Something to check off my life goal to do list… The original 1990 Ninja Turtles film is one of my all time favorite films. Not only is it one of the best comic adaptations ever, its simply the most accomplished and human creature films of all time. Barron didn’t just direct but was a huge creative force behind every aspect of this film. Nick Jade and I have spent many a night discussing what we know about eh production of the film, deleted scenes, speculating on myriad aspects of production and wow… we had the opportunity to finally have all our questions answered right from the source.
But it’s not just Ninja Turtles the Barron’s behind. He’s one of the most prolific music video directors of all-time. “Billie Jean”, “Take On Me”, “Money For Nothing” all his - and more! Plus he’s directed myriad other memorable projects - just look him up! Also, get hella excited for his upcoming adaptation of Treasure Island. I’ve seen a trailer and… it will blow you away. For real.
This episode is the first in a series we’re doing on fan films. Our interview with Barron is an accompaniment to an interview with indie writer-director, Polaris Banks who directed an incredible Casey Jones fan film inspired greatly by Barron’s realistic Turtles world.
